What Is Limu and What Are We Creating?

We started Limu Creates to highlight the rich cultural traditions we see in kitchens and at tables around the world.

Whether it's taking the time to prepare a dish that takes hours instead of minutes, or a grandma putting a second (...or third) plate of food in front of you, we have seen how food can be the language of love.

Our goal is to highlight this love and effort through watercolor and video to create a sense of connection to new and familiar cuisines. Simply put, we aim to capture "the taste of home."

Our YouTube and Substack, In the Kitchen, is where we go deeper into the community and highlight the unique tables, kitchens, and homes of chefs, grandmas, families, and friends around the world.

We hope you'll join us as we make our way from kitchen to kitchen!

Meet Us

  • Nikki is our Recipe Developer and Head of Narrative, who uses video and writing to add flavor and depth to the art that we share with you. She is inspired by the rich culture that flows from generation to generation, and enjoys learning about traditions other than her own. When it comes to creativity, she loves bringing people together around food, highlighting stories through narrative video, and playing with words to find new ways to connect the dots of life.

  • Thanh is the watercolor artist who adds life and soul to the recipes, poems, and prints we share. She enjoys exploring the world through the lens of her palette. Whether it's food, animals, nature, or something else, she feels most creative when she puts the paintbrush to the page. She also shares her top watercolor tips in her latest book, Watercolor Food Illustration: Learn to Paint Realistic Foods, Ingredients and Keepsake Recipe Cards.
